Salsa

I've been making my own salsa. It's cheaper (by far) and maybe tastier than the grocery store brands. I don't make it from fresh tomatoes or it would not be a savings (at certain times of the year).

Can of diced tomatoes
Onion (1/2 large or whole medium)
Garlic (2-3 cloves)
Fresh cilantro (handful)
Chili powder (1-2 tbsp)
Salt (2tsp)
Dash of sugar

Plop a can of diced tomatoes in a saucepan and start cooking them on medium high.

While they cook, chop up onions, garlic, and fresh cilantro. Throw all that in with the tomatoes and add chili powder, salt, dash of sugar (or Splenda), and any other spice you feel like adding to the mix.

Simmer all this for 20-30 minutes, and voila...homemade salsa.
